2015 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

There is so much buzz about when the 2015 cruise itineraries for summer and fall 2015 will come out from Disney Cruise Line.  One agent was certain that they would come out “within 48 hours” a couple days ago, but nothing.  Personally, I think we could see the new itineraries as soon as mid-February, but possibly not until March or April.  So we wait, and speculate, and wait some more.

I thought now would be a good time to speculate!  I also want to hear what you think might be happening.  Here are my ideas with little basis for these thoughts.

  • Disney Dream – 3 and 4 night Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral on Fridays and Mondays
  • Disney Fantasy – alternating 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral with the addition of Tortola for an Eastern Caribbean port for at least some of the Eastern sailings
  • Disney Wonder – I predict that she will head over to Cadiz, Spain to undergo a major drydock like the Disney Magic did last year.  I think this will happen in May rather than after the season and the Wonder will then go up to the United Kingdom and then do Baltic sailings for the summer months.  Following the Baltic sailings, there may be some Mediterranean sailings and then a Transatlantic where she will go back to Port Canaveral, Miami or New Orleans.  Yes, New Orleans!!  If she goes to New Orleans, I’m hoping we will see some new Western Caribbean stops.
  • Disney Magic – I predict that she will go up to New York City again and have sailings to Canada to include a stop at Quebec City, maybe alternating sailings with Bermuda or the Bahamas and possibly a couple 2 night sailings again.  In the fall, I think she will return to Florida for Bahamas and Caribbean sailings.
  • Unfortunately, I’m predicting no Alaska sailings for the summer of 2015.

I know that the Disney Wonder showed up on the port calendar for a few days in Hawaii, but was removed.  I know a lot of you would like to see Hawaii again, and I hope I’m wrong for your sakes, but I can’t figure that one out into my prediction.

Of course, I could be totally wrong with these predictions, but hey, it’s fun to speculate!  What do you think DCL will do in 2015?  Where would you like to see them go?

New 2014 DCL Itineraries Announced

Disney Cruise Line has finally announced the rest of the 2014 cruise itineraries.  The first half of the year were released in early December and can be found here.  This actually wasn’t that long of a wait when we look back at some recent years, but it seems like forever when you are looking for a specific itinerary or date.  We will look at what’s happening ship by ship.  But first, bookings for these itineraries will open on February 14, 2014 (opening February 13 for Platinum and Gold Castaway Club members).

Disney Magic

As was predicted, the Disney Magic will be returning to the Mediterranean to embark on exciting sailings in the summer of 2014.  Select sailings will call Venice, Italy, as her home port.  All Venice sailings will overnight in the city so you can experience the nightlife here.  Disney Magic will visit several ports of call (some for the first time), including Katakolon, Rhodes, Heraklion (Crete), Santorini and Corfu, Greece and Catania, Sicily.

On June 26 and July 5 there will be new 9-night Mediterranean Greek Isles sailings departing from Venice with visits to Katakolon, Pireaus, Kusadasi, Rhodes, Mykonos and then overnighting in Venice.

She will conclude her season in Europe with another Transatlantic sailing returning to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Here Disney Magic will embark on four 7-night Southern Caribbean sailings with stops in Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados and St. Kitts.  These sailing will be September 20, 27, October 4 and October 11.

Next she will go back to Miami and continue with alternating 4, 5 and 5 night sailings to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean.  This is the same itineraries the Disney Wonder will be sailing in early 2014.

Disney Wonder

Yes, the Disney Wonder is going back to Alaska!  But before she gets there, she will be making a journey through the Panama Canal.

The first sailing out of Vancouver will be special as the Wonder will visit Sitka, Alaska for the very first time on a 9-night sailing.  Following the 9-night sailing, she will continue through the summer with 7-night Alaskan itineraries, with ports of call in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan and a visit to Tracy Arm fjord.

The 9-night sailing will be on May 24, while the remaining of the sailings will depart on Mondays with the final Alaska sailing on September 1.

Following the Alaskan season, Disney Wonder will go back to the Caribbean and Port Canaveral!

Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream

The Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream will continue it’s schedule of Bahamas and Caribbean sailings out of Port Canaveral in the fall of 2014.

Ready to Cruise in 2014?

Back in early December, 2012, Disney Cruise Line opened up bookings for the first half of 2014 sail dates.  Many guests were waiting for the rest of the year to open up to see what the classic ships would be doing for the summer.  While we don’t have any more information on when and where, there have been some interesting rumors that have surfaced in the last few weeks.

First we’ll start with the Disney Fantasy.  Port calendars seem to indicate that the Fantasy will be doing only Eastern Caribbean sailings starting in November, 2014.  For those that love the extra day at sea, you won’t have to make sure you are selecting a week that will visit the Eastern Caribbean.  What this all means for the Western Caribbean, we are not sure.  Some sites are speculating that the Disney Wonder will have 7 night sailings only to the Western Caribbean.  We are not sure if these will start from Miami or Galveston or somewhere else altogether.

Based on port calendars from Madeira and Villefranche, it does look like the Disney Magic will be going back to the Mediterranean for summer sailings there.  Initially, Villefranche revealed a large gap in the middle of the summer, but dates have recently been added making it more likely that the Magic will be staying in the Mediterranean all summer, rather than going to the Baltics as some guests had hoped.  This also would mean two transatlantic sailings.  It seems likely that the Eastbound Transatlantic will be in May while it looks like the Westbound Transatlantic will be in late September or early October.  After she returns to the US, the Magic may be doing alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings, or go back to the schedule that the Disney Wonder currently is sailing with alternating 4, 5 and 5 night sailings to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean.

The Wonder will likely go back to Alaska for the summer months.  This will mean a Panama Canal sailing.  One thing that was very interesting was a 9-night sailing that appeared on Disney Cruise Line’s website last week and Sitka, Alaska as a port of call.  One blogger also found an article indicating that Disney Cruise Line would be in Sitka for one sailing in 2014.

While we have no advanced knowledge of an announcement from Disney as to when these dates will be up for sale, we have seen in the past that once the ships are showing up on port calendars, the announcement is generally not far behind.  Some sites are saying February 11, 2013 will be the announcement so hopefully we will have more information next week.

Travel On A Dream agents are ready for the announcement and subsequent sale of these cruise dates.  Most of our agents have short waitlists for these dates so unlike the larger online travel agencies, we can get to your requests much sooner.  Contact us as soon as possible to get your place in line.  In addition to our quality service, we also offer onboard credits as a thank you for booking with us and referral credits as well.  If 2014 is not on your radar and you are looking to book for 2013, we have a bonus onboard credit offer for sailings through the end of the year.  Contact your Travel On A Dream agent or email info@travelonadream.com.

Changes to the Disney Wonder Itinerary in 2013?

For some time now we have been hearing rumors about Jamaica and more recently about the Disney Wonder changing her itinerary in 2013.  We checked the Jamaica port calendar and found a mystery ship on the calendar every other Tuesday starting in October.

Today we found this:

When you search for a cruise in the fall 2013 from Galveston and click on the itinerary, the current itinerary is listed, but the above map shows.  I do not think this is the final itinerary, but it is interesting to say the least.

What we believe is going to happen is that the September 28, 2013 sailing of the Disney Wonder will switch itineraries to the one listed above with stops at Falmouth, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  The following week, October 5, 2013, she will have an itinerary which does not include Jamaica.  As of now there is no clear picture on what changes if any will occur to the alternating weeks.

For those of you looking for information on 2014 bookings, my best guess is that they will not be available until after Disney Cruise Line takes care of the changes to 2013.

So what do you think about Jamaica as a port of call for the Disney Wonder?  Will this help you decide on a sailing out of Galveston or have no impact?
