2015 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

2015 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

There is so much buzz about when the 2015 cruise itineraries for summer and fall 2015 will come out from Disney Cruise Line.  One agent was certain that they would come out “within 48 hours” a couple days ago, but nothing.  Personally, I think we could see the new itineraries as soon as mid-February, but possibly not until March or April.  So we wait, and speculate, and wait some more.

I thought now would be a good time to speculate!  I also want to hear what you think might be happening.  Here are my ideas with little basis for these thoughts.

  • Disney Dream – 3 and 4 night Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral on Fridays and Mondays
  • Disney Fantasy – alternating 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral with the addition of Tortola for an Eastern Caribbean port for at least some of the Eastern sailings
  • Disney Wonder – I predict that she will head over to Cadiz, Spain to undergo a major drydock like the Disney Magic did last year.  I think this will happen in May rather than after the season and the Wonder will then go up to the United Kingdom and then do Baltic sailings for the summer months.  Following the Baltic sailings, there may be some Mediterranean sailings and then a Transatlantic where she will go back to Port Canaveral, Miami or New Orleans.  Yes, New Orleans!!  If she goes to New Orleans, I’m hoping we will see some new Western Caribbean stops.
  • Disney Magic – I predict that she will go up to New York City again and have sailings to Canada to include a stop at Quebec City, maybe alternating sailings with Bermuda or the Bahamas and possibly a couple 2 night sailings again.  In the fall, I think she will return to Florida for Bahamas and Caribbean sailings.
  • Unfortunately, I’m predicting no Alaska sailings for the summer of 2015.

I know that the Disney Wonder showed up on the port calendar for a few days in Hawaii, but was removed.  I know a lot of you would like to see Hawaii again, and I hope I’m wrong for your sakes, but I can’t figure that one out into my prediction.

Of course, I could be totally wrong with these predictions, but hey, it’s fun to speculate!  What do you think DCL will do in 2015?  Where would you like to see them go?

Not a problem! I love talking about cruises 🙂

Not as much to offer the teens or children on Celebrity. We’re a childless couple so it’s perfect for us.

We ended up booking on the Allure of the Seas for June 2015. While we can always get our deposit refunded, I am nearly 100% confident that, given the clues sprinkled around, that DCL will be in Iceland and Norway during our Summer Break. It’s too bad as we would have loved to do this with DCL. On a bright note, we get an extra port stop that DCL does not do. I like that since it’s more about the port and less about the ship for us in Europe 🙂 reviews for RCCL’s Allure are fabulous, even from hard core DCL Fans like us so I feel confident we will be pleased. It’s the Meditteranean, after all!

They are all showing at least partial schedules. There are at least two ships of RCCL that I’m waiting to come out for summer in the Med.

I have cruised the Carnival Dream as well and was more pleased than I thought I would, but by no means totally satisfied! I was very disappointed with Oasis of the Seas however. I am very picky though and prefer to cruise only on Disney or Celebrity as of now.

Good to know re: Celebrity. But even with a 13 year old we should still consider Celebrity? Sorry to have hijacked your original post. I didn’t intend to take you totally off topic 🙂

I wouldn’t say that every major line has announced yet. There are still some that haven’t released all of their dates. I’m hopeful we’ll be booking these by the end of the month.

Royal Caribbean, NCL, Princess, Celebrity… All showing schedules. These are the major players for us with a tween in our party. If I am forgetting anyone please let me know so we can check every avenue. We considered NCL but it’s the Epic and the bathrooms in the staterooms are such an “Epic” fail that even though the price is better we are no longer considering that. I can’t get passed that layout. RC has 7 nights on the Allure leaving from both Rome and Barcelona with prices slightly less than DCL. The others have similar routes and pricing. Only Carnival is not sailing the Med 2015 at this point though after taking a 1 summer break from DCL and trying the Carnival Dream, I can say without a shadow of a doubt I won’t be sailing them again. DCL just has us spoiled :-). I hear we should be happy with a sail on RC Allure though if it comes to making that choice.

    And black out dates 🙁

    • Kweaver March 5, 2014 at 8:46 am

Yes, those too! I really wish they’d just announce summer ’15 already. This change up is really putting a cramp in advance planning. We are taking my parents to Europe next summer for their first time and was really banking on DCL doing the Med. Now we are forced to look at RC Allure of the Seas because if this is potentially the only time my folks go to Europe, Norway and Iceland or the Baltic for that matter, should not even make their LONG list of possible itineraries. And we go back to school early August so an Aug Med cruise won’t work :-(. Every other major line has announced so what is DCL waiting for. By the time they do their big reveal, it will be as big a surprise as a new “i” device which, as we all know with the way speculation spreads online, tends to end up being a bit deflated.

how do you book a placeholder? what is that?

    • travelonadream March 5, 2014 at 4:37 am

You do that when you are onboard the ship. Basically it is a cruise date that you have no intention of sailing but you book to secure the discount and onboard credit offer. Once you know when you want to sail, you move it to the appropriate date and will get the onboard offer (if it is not a blacked out date or beyond the 18 month period). A placeholder booked off the ship doesn’t really do you any good. You pay the regular deposit but have no discount. Better off waiting until the dates are released.

      • Kweaver March 5, 2014 at 5:39 am

Exactly! Placeholders only make sense to book for the onboard booking incentives. Darn that new 18 month policy though! 🙁

With all this unrest with Russia and Ukraine, I am guessing DCL may be rethinking any possible “Baltic” itineraries for next summer. Now all the eyes are looking at “Norway” though I am still hoping for traditional 7 night Western Mediterranean itineraries personally. Time will tell. Until them, we’ll book at placeholder if need be when we cruise early April and hope for the best.

2015 would love to see the Magic doing a Baltic cruise

  8. anonymous February 27, 2014 at 11:27 pm

I predict the Disney Magic will come in Europe in 2015 with Geiranger in Norway.

Curious to see what happens. I want to take my niece on a cruise. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise. I hope they do something with NYC or New Orleans.
