MyMagic+ and FastPass+

We’ve been hearing a lot about the MyDisneyExperience and the MagicBands lately, with testing of the MyMagic+ at Walt Disney World.  Last week, we had a blog from our friend Tiffany who was able to test the system.  Today I have information about using MyDisneyExperience to set up your FastPass+ selections, based on current testing going on.  Of course, this is all subject to change at anytime and as the testing continues and we move closer to the general use of MyMagic+, I fully expect that things will still change.

Last week I was informed that two of my clients were selected to try the MyMagic+ program.  They agreed but because we had nine of them traveling together, it was a bit more complicated for selecting the FastPass+ selections.  I offered to help with the selection, which gave me a great opportunity to see how it actually works right now.

I helped my client set up her account with Disney, link her reservations and then we got started on the FastPass+.  The reason this one was complicated is all nine wanted to do at least one thing at each park together.  Five of the group wanted to do everything together, but they weren’t all in one room.  When I did the first day, I was a little tentative and it took more time, but the good thing is, nothing is set in stone.  You can easily make changes once you select your times and attractions.  Day 1 took the longest, the other five were a piece of cake!  And if you have problems, the Help Line was very helpful.

Here is step by step how to set up your FastPass+ selections.  When you first log in to Disney’s site, you’ll see MyDisneyExperience on the right side.  When you hover over this, following menu pops up.

MyDisneyExperience

You will go to My Reservations to link in your resort reservation.  You will just need your confirmation number and last name on the reservation to link it up.  You can also link up any dining reservations if they were made by phone or by your travel agent.  When you link the resort reservation, you can link all of the travelers in your party as your friends/family.

One of the best suggestions I can make about your family members that haven’t set up their own accounts is to pick a new avatar for them.  Otherwise, everyone will be a silhouette of Mickey.

To order the MagicBands, click on MagicBands and Cards and you can customize the bands to be sent to you.  We selected the colors and could even change the names to what everyone wanted to be called.

When you select My Itinerary, if nothing is selected yet, you will get this page:

Otherwise, you can select FastPass+ and the system will go to your travel dates.

Selectday

To start working with a day, just select the day and scroll to the bottom to select Next.  Now you will select the members of your party and click Next.

Selectmembers

On the following page you will select the park you want to go to.  You’ll note all the park hours, Extra Magic Hours and any plans you already have will show up here.  Click Next after selecting one park.

Depending on which park you select, you will get a list of all available FastPass+ locations.  Rides currently available for FastPass+ include:

Once you select your park, the page will look like this:

After selecting your three choices, in the upper right you can select your priorities.

priorityClick Next and you will see four options of times.

options

Select the one that is your best choice.  Don’t worry if it isn’t exactly what you want, just pick the closest.  When you go to the next screen you will see you are confirmed.

You can select Make Changes to the first one you want to edit.  For subsequent changes, you will have a different page for that.

Change

You can only change either the Experience or the Time at one time so if you want to change both, you need to do this step twice.  When you change the experience, you are given a selection of attractions that are available at that specific time.  If there isn’t any for what you want, you will likely have to switch times first.  First you will want to select who you are changing.

I really like how you can select more times than the last time we tried this.  Once you select the time, you confirm.

When you go back to your Itinerary now, here is what your schedule will look like:

The latest updates to MyMagic+ make me a little more excited about it.  I still don’t like planning my entire stay in advance, but at least this gives me more options than before with finer details of the times.

So what do you think of the latest?
